A successful marriage requires
falling in love many times,
always with the same person.

To my Grandkids
A GRANDMOTHER'S PRAYER
Oh Lord, I do not ask for much,
Eternal beauty or youth or such:
Just give me a little hand to hold
And I'll forget that I'm growing old.
I do not ask for cloudless skies,
A life that's free from tears and sighs,
Just give me a little face to kiss
And anxious moments will turn to bliss.
For what is there, really, that means so much
As little hands that reach and touch,
As little eyes that search and see
Only the best in fragile me?
So let me grow more loving and wise
By looking at life through their wide eyes.
For through these little ones, Thou hast given
This grateful grandmother a glimpse of Heaven.

Garn with one of our first zucchinis!
Our community decided it would be a good idea to have a community Garden. Their is a large lot South of our home that may eventually have another building on it. We were given the go ahead to use it until such time that it was needed (hopefully never.) As plans progressed for the garden their was a lot of enthusiasum from homeowners. One of the enthusiastic owners took over the coordinating of the garden and sign ups began. I was not totally for it. Garn thought it would be a great idea so he signed up for two 6x6 plots. I told him it would become his hobby and distraction. It has been a good thing and a great way to visit with neighbors, eat fresh tomatoes, zucchinis, peppers, spaghetti squash, etc. The garden has a timer and soaking hose so it takes little care and produces enough food for us to eat - gosh I wish we had more to share but maybe as the summer progresses we can do that too.

When we were over the other day, I saw a summer squash, but otherwise, it didn't look like your plants out back were doing a whole lot. Turns out I forgot about your giant garden plot. Makes me miss our old one, but not doing the gardening.

There is nothing like fresh vegetables from your own patch to make you feel accomplished. I have picked about 8 tomatoes from my little plants. The one on the deck almost died while we were traveling. The drip we set up didn't work very well but the ones in the front yard are doing well with big tomatoes.
